Right now, I’m reveling in good television.
Pardon my geek, but I’m watching the latest episode of Dr. Who – it may just cause me to be seriously creeped out. They’re tracking a Weeping Angel, which is a seriously creepy angel statue that I guess goes after people. I don’t know. We’re only halfway through the first of a two-part episode.
After this is “Ashes to Ashes” – first episode of the second season. I’ve been waiting months for this! I know that most of you barely know Doctor Who and have no clue what the show “Ashes to Ashes” is. That’s okay. I’m used to it.
Oh…looks like they’re sending a poor little expendable down the tunnel…and his flashlight went out…okay, I’ll stop for the two of you who do not want this episode of Doctor Who spoiled.
I don’t really have many shows I watch. I can fall back on the Food Network or HGTV when I am bored. But I’ve never watched a whole episode of American Idol nor Desperate Housewives. I guess I feel like the time I do have to watch television is limited, so I’m going to make sure it’s something I really want to watch. Not that I don’t love knowing every episode of Spongebob. Really. But when it’s my turn at the tv, I either want mindless (aka “House Hunters”) or seriously entertaining. I want to watch a show that makes me say “Oh my gosh that was brilliant!” or better, make me jealous that they came up with that idea before I could. The very best television show I have ever watched is “Life on Mars” – the BBC version. The premise is a British cop gets hits by a car in 2006 and wakes up in 1973. It was one of those shows that still makes me stop and think about how it ended. Much more thought-provoking than Spongebob. Ashes to Ashes” is the sequel to “Life on Mars” – it’s not as good, but it’s better than most shows on right now.
Oh, and if you haven’t seen it yet, go see “Date Night”. Seriously funny movie. Its been a long time since I’ve been in a theater where people were laughing so hard, you couldn’t hear the dialogue.
