BREAKING NEWS!

21 May

From the world of Potty Training…

Today marks a big day in the Herding Cats Household.  Just turned 9 years old Maura – who has been learning how to use this strange water-filled thing in the bathroom – has used the potty today.

Not once.

Not twice.

But four times.

And the last two times were self-motivated.

Yes world, my daughter TOOK HERSELF TO THE POTTY – AND THEN PEED IN IT!  BY HERSELF!

AND I’M TELLING EVERYONE! IN ALL CAPS!  BECAUSE IT IS THAT EXCITING!

You would too if you’ve been changing diapers for over sixteen years straight.

Today very well may be the first day of the rest of my life.  Without diapers.

I can’t even imagine.

That is fantastic news. Our daughter is 19 and potty trained, but we have YET to get her out of pull-ups at night. We have tried the underwear with the alarm on it, but haven’t gotten too far. WE need to do better. Once you move onto night time training and have some tips, please share them!

That is fabulous! I can’t wait to stop changing diapers…and Little Man is only a year and a half! Actually, I can’t wait to stop dealing with diaper rash…I can deal with diapers.

    But, YAY FOR MAURA!

“You would too if you’ve been changing diapers for over sixteen years straight.”

That sentence alone is a very scary thing to realize when wanting more kids (which I do).

Still, MAJOR congrats to you and Maura!

Oh Happy Day!!!! Congratulations to your whole family!! I cried with happiness reading this post because there are many of us with special needs children and we are not alone in ALL the struggles.

We have a 6 1/2 year old who sounds very much like your Maura, we call her syndrome the Eliza Maehem Quandary Syndrome because with all the tests we have done, Eliza Mae appears on paper, an ordinary child. She is extraordinary!

    • Melony Tallarek May 22, 2012 at 9:48 am #

The struggles and JOYS too….I meant to add!
